The platinum group comprises six metals, all of which are inert, stable, resistant to tarnish and corrosion, and generally white in color.
Of the six metals in the group, only platinum, palladium, and rhodium have found practical applications in electroplating. A steadily increasing demand for white, reflecting, and tarnish-resistant finishes has stimulated the development of improved plating processes for these metals.
