Make 2 qt of custard cream. Cool to 50'F. Place 1 oz of gelatin in 2 oz of cold water and dissolve in a double boiler. Mix the dissolved gelatin into the cooled custard cream. Whip 2 qt of homogenized cream. Add vanilla and rum flavor to taste. Then fold the whipped cream and custard cream together with a wire whip. All kinds of fruit jellies, bananas, or other fillings may be folded into the cream. This makes a very good pie filling which can be decorated with whipped cream on top.
