Plastic surfaces, such as lamp shades, have a tendency to pick up dust. It is very difficult to remove such dust by using ordinary dusting cloths. A soft dusting cloth can be immersed in a solution of radioactive polonium and dried to give a dust cloth that will work wonders. The radioactive polonium is prepared by diluting a 0.01 microcurie polonium solution to 0.001 microcuries.
Some of the solution, if placed in an open vial in a chemical balance, will keep the balance relatively free of static discharges.
