A standard insect repellent such as "6-12" can also be used as a sunburn preventive by adding a chemical sunscreen in the proper amount, 0.5 to 5%. Examples are: beta methyl umbelliferone, p-aminobenzoic acid, phenyl salicylate, dipropylene glycol salicylate, benzyl cinnamate.
