Charge the "Acintol" FA1 Tall Oil Fatty Acid, pentarythritol and Tripentek to a reactor fitted with thermometer, stirrer, inert gas and open inlets. Adjust inert gas flow to 0.4 cu.ft./min/gal. Heat to 245'C (473'F) and hold for an acid number of 3. Cool to 230'C (446'F) and slowly add the phthalic anhydride, then raise the temperature to 240'C (464'F) and hold for acid number 6-9. Cool and reduce with mineral spirits (KB38). Approximate cooking time 5-6 hr.
