Butter or Shortening/6 oz. Water/4 lb. 6 oz. Bring to a boil "Breadlac" Nonfat Dry Mink Solids/12 oz. Cornstarch/10 oz. Salt/0.25 oz. Water/1 lb. 8 oz. Granulated Sugar/2 lb. 2 oz.

Make a smooth cream. Stir slowly into the boiling syrup and cook until it begins to thicken, stirring constantly. Bitter Chocolate/9 oz. Cut fine and stir into the hot cream until melted. Egg Whites/1 lb. 8 oz. Granulated Sugar/12 oz. Make a stiff meringue. Fold the meringue lightly into the hot filler. Do not work more than necessary to distribute. Vanilla Extract/1.5 oz. Add last. Fill into well-baked shells while still warm. When cold, spread or tube with whipped cream. If meringue is preferred, spread it over the pie and then sift with powdered sugar over the top. Brown in the oven. This makes ten 9-in. pies.
