Carefully disperse the "Carbopol" resin in the "stoddard Solvent," and then add the amine. Little or no thickening will occur. Add the methanol rapidly with g ood mixing to minimize local swelling and clumping. The "Carbopol" will swell and gel the system to give a Brookfield, 20 rpm, viscosity of 1000 cps. Higher viscosities would prevail if "Carbopol" 934 or 940 is used or if increased amounts of Carbopol resin-amine are employed.
