It is usually preferable for the manufacturer to undertake the
neutralization of the dodecylbenzene sulphonic acid,since this material
can be purchased commercially at around a 95% concentration and is
readily neutralized by the addition of a sodium hydroxide solution. a
typical basic formula using an alkylarylsulfonic acid and lauryl ether
sulfate mixture is:
