0.1-0.3% of lithium phenylstearate in hydraulic oils produces drag reductions comparable to those achieved with polymer additives. The new additive, however, is claimed to be superior in resistance to degradation by heat and mechanical forces, and costs less to use.Primarily intended for use in hydraulic power systems, it also may be useful in reducing drag in long pipelines.
