The conventional polychloroprene compound requires little comment. To ensure good coagulant pick-up it is normal to reduce the pH of the compound from about 12.5 to 10.7 by the addition of 18% glycin-solution (approximately 5 ml/100 g dry rubber). There is also the possibility of a downward pH drift with storage which should be corrected by adding potassium hydroxide solution to maintain a pH of about 10.7.
