The catalyst is first added to the "Rhoplex" emulsion to reduce initial viscosity and thus facilitate the addition of the undiluted thickener. "Acrysol" ASE-60 is a pH-dependent thickener. When neutralized with ammonium hydroxide this acid-containing, acrylic emulsion copolymer swells greatly, clarifies and becomes highly viscous. After drying, a curing time of 1-3 min at 300'F should be sufficient. Actual time and temperature requirements will depend on the fabrics being treated and the type of curing used.
