This can be bleached to a lustrous white by pretreating in a bath containing 4% NaOH (based on dry weight of the ramie) for 0.5 h and then bleaching in a bath containing 7 lb of "Albone" 35 hydrogen peroxide and 13.5 lb of sodium silicate per 100 gal. The bleach is carried out at 180 F for 2-3 h.
