Dissolve the TSPP in the water, then stir in the clay. This mixture is usually ball-milled for 8 h to obtain a rather uniform, small-particle dispersion. To minimize settling of the particles during storage, protective colloids such as methyl cellulose, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, or polyacrylate salts can be added before ball-milling.
