Form A solution of "Abex" VA-50 and N-methylol acrylamide in 150 g
of water. Blend monomers and form pre-emulsion by slowly adding the
mixture to the surfactant solution while agitating vigorously. Add
preemulsion to an addition funnel. To a 1 l resin kettle reactor add 220
g of water and Na2S2O8. Heat to 60'C while stirring and purging with
nitrogen. Prepare a solution of NaHSO3 in 40 g of water and charge to an
addition funnel. When the reaction temperature has reached 60'C charge
5.0 ml of the NaHSO3 solution and then begin addition of pre-emulsion.
Schedule addition time for about 3 h. Maintain polymerization
temperature at 65-70'C. The remaining NaHSO3 solution is added in 5.0 ml
increments throughout the reaction as needed. After all ingredients have
