Sodium Bisulfite (3% sol'n.)/40.00 Water/370.00 N-Methylol Acrylamide (48% sol'n.)/10.40 Sodium persulfate/1.25 "Siponic" F-400/8.25 Methacrylic Acid/5.00 Charge 200 ml water and sodium persulfate to a 1 l resin kettle reactor. Begin nitrogen purge. Blend ethyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, and methacrylic acid. Prepare solution of surfactants and N-methylol acrylamide in 150 ml of water. Form pre-emulsion by gradually adding monomer blend to surfactant solution while stirring vigorously. Transfer preemulsion to an addition funnel. When temperature of reactor reaches 60'C add 5.0 ml of sodium bisulfite solution and begin addition of pre-emulsion. Schedule pre-emulsion addition for 3-4 h. Maintain temperature between 60-65'C. Add sodium bisulfite solution incrementally throughout the reaction. When all ingredients are added, continue heating reactor for 30 min. Cool and discharge. Adjust latex to pH 7 with ammoni Solids
