Polyvinyl Alcohol/1 Toluene/25 Water/140 Emulsify the polyvinyl acetate in an equal amount of water containing the polyvinyl alcohol as an emulsifying agent. Heat the "Vinsol" with the dibutyl phthalate and toluene at 55-60'C to form a smooth solution (10-15 min). This "Vinsol" solution is then slowly added in alternate increments with the remaining water to the stirred polyvinyl acetate emulsion. When using a mechanical stirrer at 3,000-12,000 rpm, time required for adding the "Vinsol" solution is usually about 10-15 min. During this time interval, the stirrer speed should be increased as the emulsion thickens. Stable emulsions of 45-65% solids are readily obtained. 配制方法:
Depending on the temperature of the hot-melt and the length of time the mix is held at this temperature, an antioxidant, such as octylphenol, and an acid acceptor, such as "Epi-Rez" 510, should be added in varying amounts between 0.25-1.0 percent of the ethyl cellulose content. The above general formula may be modified in many ways to meet the needs of specialty applications. "Vinsol" resin may be substituted for the "Staybelite" resin at lower cost when color is not an important factor. A few of the specialty applications are: high-speed thermoplastic packaging, laminating cellophane or foils to paper, adhering films and artificial leather to metal, and holding metal parts together during welding.
