(a) Prepare a resin solution of suitable viscosity by dissolving the resin in a hydrocarbon solvent. A viscosity of 25 poises @ 25'C or lower is desirable. (b) Add the water soluble ingredients to the total desired amount of water in the pre-mix kettle and add the oil-soluble ingredients, with mixing, to the resin solution. (c) Add the resin solution uniformly to the water in the pre-mix tank with rapid agitation to produce a continuous oil-in-water premix emulsion. (d) Run the pre-mix oil-in-water emulsion through the water cooled Colloid Mill at the setting required to produce particle sizes of 1 to 3 microns. The working temperatures for the formulations used in this procedure do not appear to be critical but should be in the range of 20 to 80'C.
