This gives a neutral product that does not penetrate the paper.
Emulsion adhesives
Resin-emulsion adhesives are emulsions of plasticized resins dispersed
in a water base. They are often extended with starch paste or the like
and thus require the incorporation of a preservative. The resin most
commonly used in emulsion adhesives is polyvinyl acetate. The following
is a typical polyvinyl acetate emulsion-adhesive formula:
Quick-Tac
Starch/10 kg.
Urea/5.5 kg.
Water/90 liter
Water/15 liter

With special additives, adhesives designed for specialized applications may be formulated. For example, formula No.3 is a good adhesive for bonding moistureproof cellophane to aluminum foil or to paper; or for bonding aluminum foil to paper.
