After stirring the slurry for 15 minutes at room temperature, B is added. The temperature is then raised to about 160'f., that is, to a temperature very slightly below the gel point of this particular starch. this temperature is maintained for slightly over 2 hours, when a test with titanium sulfate shows that the hydrogen peroxide has been consumed. the starch is then filtered off and dried at about 160'F. A 3% slurry of the treated starch, heated for about 15 minutes at 175'f., has the following characteristics Iodine Color/blue pH/7.1 Pearl Cornstarch/10.00 lb. viscosity/40 seconds soda Ash/0.33 oz.
