"acintol" FA-2, penta, glycerol, phthalic anhydrice, and 40 ml of xylene are reacted at a temperature of 230 C until an acid number of 7-9 mg KOH/g is obtained.the reaction is carride out as an azeotropic cook with a reflux condenser and a trap to remove water. after cooling the alkyd to 190 C the "Z-6018" resin and remaining xylene are added and the reaction continued at a temperature of 190-200 C unjtil the desired viscosity at 60% solids is obtained. at this point, the alkyd appears to be gelled. the stoddard solvent is added and the N.V. adjusted to 60%. visc.-Z1-Z2 color (gardner 1963)/-3 N.V.-61% A.N. solids-6.1 time to dry hard-2.0 h
