Fill a suitable high-pressure mold completely with the compound. Apply a ram pressure equivalent to 5000 psi. on the mold and heat for 20 minutes at 345 to 350'F. Large molded sections appear to require lower temperatures, in the 300 to 320'F. range. Most nitrogenproducing blowing agents are exothermic and contribute heat for fusion. One typical blowing agent decomposes around 285'F. Cool under pressure to room temperature. Release the pressure and remove the expanded sample from the mold. Heat the sample at 250'F. for final expansion; the time is dependent on the geometry of the product design.
