"Wax S-1167" has the property of reducing the viscosity of hot-melt asphalts. Electrical units, such as transformers, frequently use asphalts as the potting compound. A reduction in the viscosity of such compounds is of definite interest. The viscosity of an asphalt which is normally applied at 375 to 400'F. is reduced by 5% "Wax S-1167" from 1700 centistokes to 800 centistokes.
