For "renewable" water repellents utilizing waxes and aluminum salts, "Ethomeen" 18/12 acetate is one of the best non-yellowing, nonrewetting emulsifiers. The paraffin and "Ethomeen" 18/12 are melted together and poured with vigorous stirring into hot water and the acetic acid. This emulsion should be put through a colloid mill to obtain optimum particle size. Aluminum salts can also be incorporated into this formulation for improved water repellency.
