Using a two-phase system, "Duomeen" T, the fatty diamine, is added to preheated asphalt at 190 to 250'F., while the acetic acid and calcium chloride are added to preheated water at 180'F. The two phases are then combined by high-speed mixing, producing a stable cationic emulsion that is brownish and has a viscosity of 88 SSF at 77'F.
