The fish-liver oil, "Dehydag" wax SX and the white petrolatum are melted together on a water-jacketed vessel at about 70'C. (158'F.). The water is also warmed to about 70'C. (158'F.) and stirred in. Emulsification results while stirring until cold. Ointments as oil-in-water emulsion systems are subject to water evaporation. The finished preparations are, therefore, best supplied in tubes. These should be coated with a suitable inside protective coating so as to avoid any corrosion.
