Solubilize the bromo acid dyes in the Volpo or Polychol with as little heat as possible. Add the Novol to the resulting clear solution. Add the castor oil and the waxes. No precipitation should occur. Add the pigments and mill the formulation (triple roller mill). Alternatively the pigments may be milled in the Novol and castor oil before combining with the waxes. Note: The resulting sticks will possess superior gloss (without flaming), plasticity, and mold release properties. The combination of the nonionic surfactant and Novol in the stick provides pigment dispersing powder and will help prevent titanium bleeding and streaking. The ratio of nonionic to Novol is varied according to the quantity of dye to be incorporated.
