Carefully disperse the "Carbopol" 941 resin in the water. When dispersion is complete, add the sodium hydroxide and then the amine. Slowly add the "RT-8" tar in a thin, continuous steam (so that the rate of addition is no greater than the rate of dispersion) with good mixing. Note: Fairly high shear such as that provided by a medium-speed Eppenbach homogenizer, forms the best, smallest droplet-size emulsion. Excessively rapid addition of the tar results in a grainy emulsion.
