Total weight of tablet-Theoretical (3000.00 mg) plus a 2% overage (6.00 mg.) or 306.00 mg.
Blend the potato starch, sucrose and calcium carbonate in a suitable blender. While these ingredients are being blended prepare a starch paste by suspending the necessary amount of starch in cold water and add this suspension to boiling water until the paste is slightly tacky. After the potato starch, sucrose, and calcium carbonate have been thoroughly blended, transfer the mixture to a suitable mixing apparatus and add starch paste until the desired consistency is obtained. Pass the wet mass through a #4 plate on a Fitzpatrick Comminuting Machine, Model, at slow speed with knife edges forward. Dry the wet granulation in a tray drier until the moisture content is reduced to less than 1%. Mill the dry mixture through a 2A or a 2AA plate on the Fitzpatrick Comminuting Machine Model D, with blunt edges forward and at high speed.
