A cattle food supplement composed of animal fat (tallow) in combination with either molasses or a lower-cost molasses-type fermentation by-product it emulsified with "CAB-O-SIL". It is a concentrate which is to be diluted with either water or molasses prior to feeding. An oil-in-water emulsion is, therefore, required. the emulsions are prepared by adding "CAB-O-SIL" to the fermentation or molasses solutions heated to 90'F, while mixing at 2500 rpm with a Premier Dispersator equipped with a duplex head. Then the liquid fat, heated to 90'F, is slowly added with continued mixing. At a 10% fat content level, 3% "CAB-O-SIL" by weight is required for total emulsification with the fermentation solutions. At the 25% fat content level, only 1.25% CAB-O-SIL is required.
