Dissolve the stearic acid and triethanolamine in 80 parts of water at 70'C with gentle stirring; then dissolve the potassium hydroxide. Next add slowly with stirring di-tert-butyl-para-cresol, which is just above its melting point (70'C) and stir until the mixture is homogeneous. Allow it to cool to 40'C while stirring, and add 16 parts of cool water.
