I---Raw Materials A 35% Hydrogen Peroxide. B 85% C.P. phosphoric acid diluted with 9 volumes deionized water. C De-ionized or distilled water. D Phenacetin, solid. E Wetting agent or opacifier as desired. II---Preparation A Place 45 gal de-ionized water in the mix tank. B In a separate container, boil 2-1/2 gal of de-ionized water and add 77-1/2 g phenacetin with stirring. C When all the phenacetin is dissolved, add it to the mix tank with vigorous agitation. D Add 35 g ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid. E Continue agitation and add 17 lb 13 oz of 35% hydrogen peroxide. F Add 4 lb NH4H2PO4 (buffer). G Add dilute phosphoric acid until a pH of 2.8-3.0 is reached. H Bottle immediately and maintain scrupulous cleanliness throughout. Accidental contamination in preparation of peroxide neutralizer will have an adverse effect on its stability.
