"Thixicin" R is effective as a thickening and suspending agent in a variety of organic liquids such as: Alcohols, glycols, glycol ethers, esters, ketones, mineral oils, polyglycols, and vegetable oils. "Thixcin R" is not suitable for use in aromatic hydrocarbons or water alone. In emulsion systems "Thixcin" R remains in the oil phase, it has relatively little effect on the viscosity of oil-in-water systems. However, water-in-oil emulsions containing "Thixcin" R are thickened considerably. High shear is essential for good dispersion and thixotropic efficiency. "Thixcin" R can b e dispersed in laboratory blenders, colloid mills, ointment mills, Eppenbach "Homo-Mixers", or other standard highshear equipment. In dispersing "Thixcin" R the temperature should be maintained within the range 90 to 130'F.
