Preparation of High Solids Sealant at 160'F (a) Weigh "Acryloid" CS-1, pine oil and ethylene glycol into mixing pot. (b) Close lid of Ross double planetary mixer tightly and begin to mix and heat. Adjust jacket inlet water temperature to 160'F with steam. Maintain this temperature throughout the batch preparation. (c) Add calcium carbonate, through chute on mixer cover, slowly over a 5-minute period. (d) Increase speed of mixer and continue mixing for 4 minutes. (e) Add asbestos slowly over a 3-minute period and continue mixing for one minute. (f) Add talc slowly over a 3-minute period and continue mixing for one minute. (g) Add the thixotropic agent slowly over a five-minute period. (h) Increase speed of mixer so as to mix efficiently and continue mixing for 38 minutes.
