Stable emulsions of cod, neatsfoot, and mineral oil are prepared by using "Surfactol" 365 at a level of 10% based on the weight of oil. Such emulsions are stable in the presence of the salts and acids remaining in the leather after prior processing steps. The "Surfactol" 365 promotes the even penetration of these oils into the leather and prevents mottling.
