Dissolve the hexachlorocyclohexane in the oil by heating gently on a water bath; add the cetyl and stearyl alcohols, and heat to 70'C. Heat the distilled water to 70'C. in which the sodium lauryl sulfate and polyethylene glycol have been dissolved. Add this solution to the previously prepared solution, stirring rapidly until cool, and homogenize. The emulsion can be made to conform to any desired thickness and viscosity by varying the amounts of cetyl and stearyl alcohols. This is an efficient and apparently nontoxic cure for scabies and pediculosis.
